Upcoming Workshops
Saturday, June 16, 2012
Speaker: Karen Sugden, LCSW, LCADC, Ashley Family Wellness Program Counselor
Topic: "Anger and Forgiveness"
The morning session of
this workshop will focus on anger. Do you avoid anger, react to it,
repress it, and then explode? Do you then feel more intense anger, fear,
and feel like like a doormat? This session will give you the
opportunity to learn how to express anger in healthy ways.
The afternoon session will focus on forgiveness. Do you hold onto
resentments? Do you think if you forgive the person, you 'let them off
the hook' or condone their behaviors? We will identify the process of
forgiveness, barriers to forgiveness, fake forgiveness and
self-forgiveness.
Saturday, July 21, 2012
Speaker: Eileen Thompson, CCAD, CRPS, Ashley Family Wellness Program Counselor
Saturday, August 18, 2012
Speaker: Matt Braswell, M.A, Ashley Family Wellness Program Counselor
Topic: "Co-morbidity: Drug Abuse and Mental Illness - What You Need to Know"
"Couples Enhancement" WorkshopWhen one or both people in a
relationship have a history of addiction, there are special issues that
the partners need to address in order to have healthy intimacy and
support in the relationship. The Couples' Workshops are geared toward
committed couples that are able to work together well to promote growth
in the relationship. Activities will be positively worded and
interactive, addressing getting to know and understand each other
better, improving overall communication and discussing needs, among
other topics.
The workshops are led by certified social workers and clinical
addiction treatment counselors. Each session is limited to 20 or fewer
participants, so each person or couple is able to receive personalized
attention from the counselors.
Please note: These workshops are not
intended to save troubled marriages, where the issues are significant
enough to warrant individual marital counseling and the couple would
not be best served in a group setting.
